PLUS Compound Technologies Partners with Scott Hawaii to Launch Eco-Friendly Product Line

NEWPORT BEACH, CA (August 10, 2012) – PLUS Compound Technologies®, LLC (“PLUS”), the inventor of PLUSfoam®, a 100% recyclable material built for performance and comfort, today announced a partnership with Scott Hawaii, Inc. (“Scott Hawaii”) to create three sandals that are currently available at select retailers throughout the United States. The product line features a variety of sandals: the ‘KULA’ for women (MSRP $34), the ‘KAI’ for men (MSRP $36) and the ‘KAO’ for kids (MSRP $26).
Based in Hawaii, caring for their environment is part of the Scott Hawaii DNA. “It’s been great working with the team at PLUSfoam” says Michael Scott, President at Scott Hawaii, “We had been looking for a supplier of eco-friendly materials to partner with to assist us in manufacturing a line that would make an impact in the industry. Once we found PLUSfoam we knew they were the ones. I met Brett Ritter, the CEO of PLUSfoam, in a previous venture and knew that the materials they developed would be top notch. I also knew the quality and attention to detail of the footwear they produced would be as well. We’re going into our second year with PLUSfoam and can’t wait to incorporate more and more of their materials into our footwear to lessen the impact we make on our environment.”

“Scott Hawaii has now joined a small but impactful group of brands who are making environmentally conscience decisions as part of their product development process”, said Michael Carr, Associate General Manager at PLUS Compound Technologies®. “Not only do these sandals yield zero waste, they also incorporate FUSIONfoam, which is made of 100% recycled content”.
PLUS Compound Technologies® operates reclaim facilities in the US and Asia where any products made with PLUSfoam® can be returned and recycled, allowing for customers of the ‘KULA’, ‘KIA’, and ‘KAO,’ to take part in the environmental movement as both purchasers and recyclers of these products. “The reclaim service adds value to our brand partners’ products”, says Carr, “we’re excited to have Scott Hawaii consumers involved in this closed loop, cradle-to-cradle process”. Post-consumer goods that are sent back to PLUS Compound Technologies® in the US will be ground up and repurposed locally – they will not be shipped back to China.
By using PLUSfoam® for these three styles, Scott Hawaii is eliminating approximately 1,200 pounds of scrap from entering landfills or incinerators. Recycling and reusing this scrap is one example of how PLUS Compound Technologies® is Saving the planet...one product at a time™.
