Environment news : Beyond Coastal Sun Care Products Receive Top Ratings by Environmental Working Group

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah Beyond Coastal premium sun care products received top ratings by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) published in EWG’s 2013 annual report on sunscreens released May 20, 2013.

The Environmental Working Group analyzed over 738 sunscreens currently on the market and gave each a score between 0-10, with “0” being the best possible.  (There were no “0”s given.) Based on EWG criteria, sunscreens with a score of 0 to 2 are “Recommended.” In this year’s EWG report, seven Beyond Coastal products received the top rating “2” in both the mineral and non-mineral ‘beach and sport’ sunscreen categories.

Of the 413 mineral and non-mineral sunscreen products included in the EWG report, Beyond Coastal products dominated the list of top rated formuals with only two other brands making the cut.

Two of Beyond Coastal’s new sunscreen formulas received top ratings in the EWG report, including:
Beyond Coastal’s Natural (mineral) Sunscreen is formulated to give broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection, is water resistant up to 80 minutes and goes on clean and clear.

In the EWG’s non-mineral lip balm category, over 110 lip balms were tested. Of those, only Beyond Coastal’s five lip balms received top ratings.

Beyond Coastal’s Lip Balm comes in five great-tasting flavors and provides SFP 15 protection. Available in .15 oz tube. SRP $2.99

“We couldn’t be more thrilled with this year’s EWG ratings,” said Tom Ferries, vice president of marketing for Beyond Coastal. “With May being National Skin Cancer Awareness Month and Memorial Day weekend just days away, the timing of this year’s EWG report is important for consumers so that they can make informed choices when selecting sunscreen products.”

Ferries continued, “Offering the healthiest formulas has been the foundation of Beyond Coastal since the company’s inception in 2006. We recently launched a newly reformulated sun care line and these new formulas are packed with moisturizing antioxidant rich inactive ingredients and provide as always, broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection, water resistance up to 80 minutes and ease of application.”

The reformulated line includes Active Sunscreens, Natural Sunscreens, Active Lip Balms and AfterSun Moisturizer. All Beyond Coastal products are made and packaged in the U.S. For additional information on Beyond Coastal, click here.
