5 Point Film Festival Couples Outdoor Brands with Authentic Content

April 17, 2014 (Carbondale, Colorado) – The center of the outdoor universe will be in Carbondale, Colorado. Over the course of four days, April 24 – 27, the outdoor industry’s best filmmakers, athletes and artists will converge on the small mountain town along with thousands of festival-goers, to celebrate the year’s best films at the seventh annual 5Point Film Festival.

This year’s stellar program features over 40 shorts and two feature-length films including: DamNation, Huayhuash, Alex Honnold – El Sendero Luminoso, Beyond the Drop, Moments Notice, Nobody’s River and others.

“5Point celebrates films and adventures that inspire people,” explains Sarah Wood, executive director. “In today’s social media-driven world, the demand for authentic storytelling is greater than ever. Our festival is at the nexus between outdoor brands and their core consumers. Our partnership with industry’s leading brands, from Patagonia, to Outside Television, Polartec, Black Diamond, Sierra Nevada, NRS, Big Agnes, Osprey, Evolv, Whole Foods and others, speaks to the growth and opportunity we’ve had with 5Point.”

Known for its eye for emerging talent and curating exceptional mixes of art, literature and film, 5Point attracts many of the biggest names in the outdoors including filmmakers Travis Rummel, Alexandra Fuller, Nick Waggoner, Pete McBride, and Mike Douglas, athletes Hayden Kennedy, Cedar Wright, Chris Davenport, Kelly Cordes and Daniel Woods, environmentalists  and luminaries Chris Noble, Ben Moon, Casey and Aiden Sheahan, Brendan Leonard, Jeremy Collins and many more.

5Point combines outdoor activities with live events such as Chris Kalous’ Enormocast and Fitz Cahall’s Dirtbag Diaries podcasts as well as ice cream socials, kids programs and new this year, a tribute to the vagabond lifestyle of living out of a van.
