The Maxwell Football Club Partners with Helmet Maker VICIS to Introduce New Innovation in Safety Award

PHILADELPHIA--The Maxwell Football Club (MFC) is unveiling a new award to recognize the NFL or NCAA FBS Equipment Manager or Trainer who has done the most to advance player safety. The VICIS Innovation in Safety Award was introduced at last week’s Maxwell Club Awards Banquet and will be awarded for the first time in 2016.

“The Maxwell Football Club was founded in 1935 to promote safety in football. This new award aligns with our founding mission and gives us an opportunity to recognize Equipment Managers and Trainers for excellence in advancing player safety,” said Mark Wolpert, MFC Executive Director. “VICIS is an exciting new helmet manufacturer that is bringing important protective innovations to our sport. We are proud to partner with them to introduce this award.”

VICIS is developing a revolutionary new football helmet to better address forces thought to cause concussion. The company recently won a grant from the NFL and it is partnering with several NFL teams to develop a football helmet offering significant improvements in safety, style, and performance. The company’s new football helmet technology will eventually be available to players at all levels of the sport.

“This award allows the football community to recognize equipment and training staff for their important work,” said Dave Marver, VICIS CEO and Co-Founder. “While their work may not be high-profile, equipment and training staff are critically important to the sport. We are grateful for the opportunity to shine light on these outstanding, highly dedicated individuals.”
